Nesting blue whales

We made nesting blue whales which are an endangered population. Did you know? The Blue Whale is the largest animal ever to have lived on earth. Their tongues alone can weigh as much as an elephant – their hearts, as much as a car. A single adult blue whale can consume 36,000 kg of krill a day.

Blue whales have few predators but are known to fall victim to attacks by sharks and killer whales, and many are injured or die each year from impacts with large ships.

While we were teaching boys about the whales and why they were endangered, we planned to make some crafts. We named it Nesting Whales. We also taught kids why not to purchase products that harm marine life.

What all you would need for the activity:

Cardboard Sheets

Scissors

Pencil

Glue

Paints

Method:

1. Grab a cardboard sheet and make a whale figure and cut it out.

2. Now place the whale figure on the other cardboard sheets and make one more giant whale on every sheet.

3. Glue the sheets in descending order.

4. Paint with a different blue color into the whale cutouts.

5. Now hand all the different whale cutouts to your kids and ask them to place them perfectly in the whale holder you just made with the help of cardboard.

Kids love doing this activity; they also enjoy painting the whales. This activity is a fine motor activity, an activity that helps your kids to grow properly. Try it today at home and watch your kids learn while playing.
