Age group: 4 and up
With an interesting take on the classic story, this puzzle game is developed by SmartGames USA.
Inside the box: A picture book, a gameboard, 5 puzzle pieces with road tracks on them, Red Riding Hood, the wolf, 3 trees and grandma’s house
We’ve indulged in lots of puzzle games at our home. Soon our kids got really bored with them, and wouldn’t play them again! I knew puzzle games help develop cognitive skills and are great for brain training, so I couldn’t just give on them. I started looking for more unusual puzzle games for younger kids, and I came across Little Red Riding Hood Deluxe, by SmartGames USA. Being so familiar with the classic story, I researched a bit more about this game. After reading some great reviews, I finally bought it!
So this puzzle game comes with 48 exciting challenges. I would say these are most suitable for 4 to 7-year-olds. The picture book presents all these challenges, and you can choose from them. There are different levels, that go from easy to hard. To categorize them, some challenges are to do with only Red Riding Hood, while the others include both Red Riding Hood and the wolf. The usage of both the characters sure indicates a higher level, however, it’s not all that difficult for kids. The higher level or the master level basically indicates that kids will be using more puzzle pieces. Once the kids get a hang of it, they’ll know exactly how to get through each level. This is the cognitive skills development that I was talking of earlier.
The other object that remains common throughout is the little house, which belongs to grandma. It has 3 doors. The ultimate goal of every challenge is to reach this house, from any of the doors, depending on Red Riding Hood’s starting point.
Talking of reaching to grandma’s house, what would you need to get there through the forest? A road! So the game comes with 5 puzzle pieces required to construct the roadway. Since every challenge is different, not all 5 pieces are to be used every time. Also, did I mention how these road puzzle pieces feature some cute little flowers? Details are everything!
Overall, my kids loved this puzzle game. It caught their attention from the get go. Of course, the biggest contributing factor here is colorful detailing on all the puzzle pieces. I was really happy to know they’ve not entirely lost interest in puzzle games. If your little ones are also tired of the monotony of traditional puzzle games then I thoroughly suggest Little Red Riding Hood Deluxe!
