Layers of 🌍 earth .
I strongly believe that when you learn something by doing it practically and seeing, it sticks to your brain better. This is why I’m always on the lookout for fun, educational activities for the kids! No age is too early to learn, regardless of how tough a topic may seem at first.
22nd April is earth day and we decided to use this as an educational opportunity. Our DIY Layers of the Earth model is a simple eco friendly craft to introduce the children to the geosphere!
Learning about the Mantle, Crust, Outer Core and Inner Core just got a lot more exciting!
What you need:
🌍 Paper plates to make the layers
🌍 Water paint colours to color the layers of the Earth .
🌏 Scissor
🌎 Board pin or any pin to hold the layers together
Steps:
1. Colour the paper plates in the color of each layer
2. Once you’re done colouring, make a hole in the center of the paper plates and cut a slice out of the plate.
3. Place all the layers on top of each other and secure with a board pin or any other pin available with you. (Make sure there is no pointy end to the pin)
Mark the layers and there you go! You have the multiple layers of the Earth in a DIY model that will easily grab the attention of the kids.
It’s a colorful, quick and easy way to teach preschoolers and younger elementary school kids about the layers of the Earth and get their young minds to explore beyond textbook learning.
