The Earth Book by Todd Parr

Could there be a more fitting book for Earth Day, than the one called as the ‘The Earth Book’!

“I take care of the earth because I know I can do little things every day to make a BIG difference.”

This book opens with an encouraging line encouraging the younger ones to join hands in protecting the Earth and preserving its resources.

With many simple instructive sentences and careful illustrations the book aims to suggest what can kids do to take care of the planet. The sentences follow a persuasive, rhetorical tone, yet are creative and thoroughly engaging!

Mindful of the message of the book, even the pages are printed using recycled materials and non toxic soy ink!

The Earth Book can be an excellent educational opportunity if the children are able to grasp the intent of the book.

For this purpose, I made the book all the more interactive by asking my kids to perform the tasks as described in the text. The kids accomplished each of those simple tasks with a lot of interest, suggesting the idea was a total success!
