Recycled Honey Bee

Don’t know what to do with those many emptied bean cans piling up? After some creative thinking we arrived at a fun solution for recycling our bean cans into honey bees!

These cute bees not only added spunk to our garden but also allowed the kids to explore the wonderful practice of recycling waste. Given the importance of environmental science, in this day and age, kids must be introduced to the concepts of waste management from the very beginning.

Today, it is an absolute necessity that parents and children nurture environmental  friendly practices from the get-go. Afterall, children are the leaders of tomorrow, and they only learn by doing. Inculcating a little sensitivity and thoughtfulness will go a long way!

What you need:

–    A bean can

–    A used plastic bottle

–    Paints, as required

–    2 bottle caps

–    2 goggly eyes

–    Glue

–    2 screws

Steps:

  1. 1. Take the can and paint it to resemble a honey bee.
  2. 2. Apply some glue on one end of the can to stick on the bottle caps. Place the goggly eyes carefully in the caps.
  3. 3. Cut the ends of a bottle so you’re left with a tube like structure. Now cut the tube from the centre to receive a C shaped structure resembling wings of a bee. Glue the wings onto the can.
  1. 4. Stick on the deck screws on the can, and that’s it! Your little bee is ready to adorn your garden. You could even place it in a plant pot.

Craft activities based on recycling used products can reap some great results! All you need is a little creativity and a bit of innovation!

Let your ideas take the lead.
