Flying Butterfly – STEM Toy

STEM stands for Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics, and it exists in everything around us today. Here is a simple and effective way to teach your kids the concept of STEM by making a toy.

What you need:

  • A straw
  • A wooden skewer or a chopstick
  • A knife
  • A Pair of Scissor
  • A paper cut in the shape of a butterfly
  • A tape

Step 1

Cut the straw from between up to 1/4th of its length

Step 2

Cut the wooden chopstick or skewer up to 1/4th of its length from between

Step 3

Paint a blank paper and fold it from the middle and cut it into a shape of a butterfly

Step 4

Now push the straw through the chopstick and tape the open ends of the straw on the sides to the paper

The flying butterfly is a toy which can be made from scratch and is applicable to all the fundamental concepts of STEM. This activity and the experiment with flying butterfly will broaden the thinking power of your child and is super fun to play with.
