Ants live in colonies known as an anthill. Anthills are absolutely fascinating when you figure there’s so much to them than what meets the eye!
Here’s a fun craft for the kids to learn what goes inside an anthill.
What you need:
– Cardboard
– Seeds
– Colored rice
– Cut outs of ants
– Glue
– Scissors
Steps:
- Draw the outlines of tunnels in an anthill and cut it out
- Glue on the tunnels to another cardboard and paint it
- Place the rice grains, seeds and ants in the chambers created by the tunnels
Ask the kids to identify and mark various areas of the anthill
Look out for the nursery, food storage chamber, the queens’ room and trash room!
