Fall scented Play Dough

Nothing says autumn like a fragrant stick of cinnamon or pumpkin spice. Since we’re staying in this season, play time has definitely taken over.

Play dough is great for sensory motor skill development, promotes creativity, and is super fun too. Combining some fall scents with play dough, here’s a simple activity for you!

What you need:

  • 1.5 cups flour
  • 1 cup salt
  • 2 spoon lemon juice
  • 1 spoon oil
  • Warm water
  • Turmeric
  • Cocoa powder
  • Nutmeg
  • Cinnamon
  • Vanilla essence
  • Food coloring

Steps:

1. In a bowl, mix the flour, salt, lemon juice, oil and water to make a dough

2. Take 5 small parts of the dough in smaller bowls and add the turmeric, cocoa powder, nutmeg, cinnamon and vanilla essence, one ingredient per bowl

3. Now add the food coloring and some more oil to each of the bowls and mix well

Your play dough is ready and each part smells so great, doesn’t it? It will certainly help kids to adapt to strong smells of different ingredients.

This is also good for the younger ones as they can safely taste it, just make sure to preheat the dough on gas or in the oven.
